With Australia’s pristine beaches and world class cruising grounds open to foreign-flagged charter yachts, the team at Bray Management has come up with a solution to take all of the regulatory hassle out of visits to the land down under.

The solution streamlines the import process for foreign-flagged yachts with the experienced local agent, providing a service which allows the yacht’s management to avoid a complex entry and clearance process.

A temporary license allows foreign flagged yachts to enter Australian waters for the purpose of charter for up to 12 months. Acting as resident agent for this temporary license process, Bray Management remove the need for the yacht to register as a company and effectively act as a local guarantor, carrying out the complicated steps of the process on the yacht’s behalf.

Thanks to the new charter yacht process developed by Bray, visiting vessels only need to worry about enjoying their experience in Australia, safe in the knowledge that their visit will be free of complex logistics.

With the Bray Management solution, the visiting yacht is able to enter Australian waters and charter easily without the need to establish a complicated tax structure. As the resident agent, Bray Management is able to apply for the Temporary license, managing the process on the yacht’s behalf with the Australian Taxation Office. Bray will take care of all relevant GST obligations on behalf of the yacht, as well as managing all Australian Customs obligations, including preparing importation documents and dealing with the local Customs authority.

Cameron Bray of Bray Management is excited by what this means for charterers. As a local superyacht expert with strong experience in the global industry, he knows there’s no question that the best way to explore the country’s expansive coastline is by superyacht. Being able to offer a complete resident agent service will see more yachts able to enjoy Australia’s coastlines, with the benefits to charter guests – and to local industry – they’ll bring.

Bray’s team’s years of work within the superyacht industry, sees them use this knowledge to maximise benefit for visiting vessels in their care and ensure the guest experience is faultless. They’re also looking forward to the additional leg this will add to their charter partners’, in Asia and the Pacific’s, cruising schedule.

“Foreign-flagged charter vessels are now able to incorporate Australia into their Asia-Pacific itineraries, enjoying some of the world’s top tourist destinations, with locations such as the Whitsunday Islands and the expansive Great Barrier Reef to boast,” says Bray.
