FAQ

If you’re chartering for the first time, knowing a few of the conventions will help you prepare for your trip and make sure you get the most out of it.

Great question as traditionally a yacht meant a mast and sail. These days a superyacht is any luxury vessel, motor or sail, over 24m / 80ft in length.

So now we call any luxury vessel a yacht or superyacht.

The charter rate is for exclusive use of the entire yacht, regardless of whether you have the minimum or maximum guest numbers.

Each yacht has a different maximum guest capacity, this is a safety directive from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

Each yacht has a different charter period, depending on the seasons. Most commonly this is 3 hours in winter and 4 hours in summer.

Some yachts offer a shorter transfer rate, so it’s best to check with us on your preferred yacht.

The charter rate includes the full charter of the yacht, the Captain and crew and for day charters the fuel use is included at cruise speed.

As each yacht charter is customised to your guest numbers, food and beverage preferences, the charter will be charged additionally for catering choices, beverages, service staff and wharf fees

Most yachts offer continual service beverage packages on a per person per hour basis. This usually consists of great quality champagne, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. For smaller groups or with less focus on beverages, the yachts will charge on consumption.

Most yachts are licensed venues, so don’t permit BYO beverages.

We pride ourselves on working with yacht who offer the finest food options on the water. We usually offer 3 types of dining options:

  • Canape finger food – for larger groups
  • Seated buffet/shared dining – for more casual affair
  • Plated dining – for the more formal occasions

Whilst each yacht offer menus to choose from, we can also design something unique for your specific tastes, like or event theme.

Because each of our charters are completely customised, we can pick up and drop off at any available public wharf that best suits you. Keep in mind most public wharves have a 15 minute boarding window, so we need to be organised on the day!

Of course, how can you be on the water and not get in the water? However, your safety is our primary concern, so we need to make sure it’s before too much drinking. For larger groups you will need to employ a lifeguard to watch over your group on the day.

• Most yachts will ask you to remove your shoes for the charter so please be prepared with those pedicures and advise your broker ahead of time if you need to wear shoes.
• The painted surfaces are incredible delicate and very expensive to repair, please be conscious of watches and bulky jewellery that might scratch the surfaces
• The carpets and flooring are also very delicate, so you may be asked not to carry your drinks inside.
• Most wharves have a 15 minute boarding window, so please ensure your group arrives ahead of time for prompt boarding

Charter brokers are professionals whose primary role is to find the right yacht and crew. They research yachts, crew and will negotiate on your behalf with the owners or operators. This service does not increase the price, in fact in some cases brokers get improved terms because of their relationships and volume of business.

Charter brokers will also hold your hand through the entire charter process, from sourcing the yacht, choosing your menus and designing the itinerary.
