Innovation with Purpose

A New Era of Superyacht Design

This year felt more purposeful.

The focus has moved from headline launches to meaningful innovation. More new builds are being designed for versatility, with ice-class or polar-rated capability that allows them to operate in both tropical and high-latitude regions.

Builders are prioritising range, endurance and sustainability, reflecting a shift toward yachts that are made to explore diverse cruising grounds across the globe.

Hybrid propulsion and next-generation fuel systems may have led the talking points, but the real shift was in mindset.

Builders and owners are thinking beyond aesthetics, creating yachts that reflect individuality, family lifestyles, and a stronger connection to the destinations that inspire them.

“The real innovation wasn’t just in tech – it was in mindset. Builders and owners are thinking long-term, designing yachts to reflect lifestyle, not just luxury.” – Cameron Bray, CEO at The Superyacht People

Innovation Meets Experience

Design That Reflects the Way We Live

Innovation ran deeper than engineering this year.

  • Heesen 55m “SOLEMATES”: Sleek, hybrid-ready and tailored for global itineraries.

  • Admiral Yachts 72 by Giorgio Armani: A design-forward flagship blending high fashion and livability.

Spaces that were once functional are now focal points. Bridges, galleys and lounges are designed with the same attention to detail as guest areas, creating a sense of openness and connection throughout.

The Conversations Defining the Year Ahead

Key Trends Defining the Yachting Industry in 2025

Across every dock, the same ideas kept surfacing — how we travel, what drives innovation, and why connection matters more than ever. These were the recurring themes shaping conversations with captains, brokers, and builders alike:

Builders showcasing new hulls and designs at Monaco Yacht Show

Experience-Led Design

Yachts are being created around how people actually use them. Convertible spaces, family-friendly layouts, and flexible deck areas are replacing rigid, formal design.

Visitors exploring the Sustainability Hub at the yacht show

Practical Sustainability

Talk around sustainability has matured. Hybrid propulsion, smarter energy systems, and reduced-waste operations are no longer ambitions — they’re becoming the standard.

Superyacht innovation on display — from propulsion to layout

Exploration in Focus

Explorer yachts dominated the narrative. Range, storage, and capability are top priorities, alongside a growing interest in destinations outside the Mediterranean, especially the South Pacific.

Crew welcoming guests aboard during charter viewings

Crew Continuity

The best charter experiences still come down to people. Owners and clients are placing more value on long-term crew relationships that define the onboard atmosphere.

Yacht designers presenting new interiors to attendees

Design with Depth

Interiors are becoming more personal and tactile. Natural materials, softer palettes, and functional flow are redefining what modern luxury feels like.

Streamlined hull design enhancing performance and efficiency

Spaces with Purpose

Areas once reserved for crew are being reimagined as shared spaces. Bridges, galleys, and work zones are now designed with the same attention to detail as guest areas, reflecting a more open, experience-driven approach to life on board.

The Human Element

Why People Still Power This Industry

For all the innovation and spectacle, Monaco always comes back to the people. The captains who share their hidden anchorages, the clients who dream bigger every year, and the colleagues you only see once in person but speak to all season long.

It’s those conversations that happen between meetings, on tenders or over a quick coffee that shape what comes next. They’re the reminder that while yachts are the platform, people are the story.

“Technology may push the boundaries, but trust and relationships still steer the journey.” – Halle Scott, The Superyacht Industry Professional

SHORE THING central charter agent - the Superyacht People

Appointed Central Charter Agent for SHORE THING

The Superyacht People Appointed Central Charter Agent for Adventure-Led Motor Yacht SHORE THING Australia, August 26, 2026 – The Superyacht People has been appointed Central Charter Agent for 34.5m SHORE THING, a recently refitted Australian-built superyacht redefining luxury charters by combining premium onboard hospitality with adventure, exploration and serious game fishing, including the option to pair with the dedicated SHORE THING 58 sportfisher. As today’s luxury travellers are increasingly seeking a more immersive, experience-led holiday over traditional resort escapes, SHORE THING has been designed to deliver far more than days simply spent at anchor in the sun. If game fishing is the main draw, by opting to pair with 17.7m SHORE THING 58 sportfisher, you can create a rare mothership-and-sportfisher charter experience. For mixed groups, this combination is particularly compelling as keen anglers can head offshore for dedicated game fishing days, while other guests can enjoy SHORE THING’s beach club, water toys, and luxury amenities, allowing everyone to experience the charter their own way. Fresh off an extensive refit in 2025, SHORE THING offers accommodation for up to eight guests across four ensuite cabins, while three spacious entertaining decks, a forward jacuzzi, multiple alfresco dining areas and relaxed contemporary interiors provide the perfect place to relax and unwind after each adventurous day at sea. What truly sets SHORE THING apart is her ability to deliver experiences that extend well beyond the yacht itself. A 9m Gemini Waverider tender, Ocean Beach Club, floating cabana, paddleboards, snorkelling equipment and a wide range of fishing gear transform each charter into an active exploration of Australia’s vast coastline. Whether casting a line offshore, snorkelling amongst the colourful reefs, discovering secluded beaches by tender, or simply spending quality time together on the water, every charter is tailored around the way guests want to experience Australia. On the appointment, Cameron Bray, Founder of The Superyacht People shared, “Luxury today is about creating memories rather than simply providing amenities. SHORE THING offers everything guests expect from a premium superyacht, but what makes her truly special is what happens off the yacht. Whether it’s heading offshore for a serious day of game fishing aboard SHORE THING 58, snorkelling pristine reefs all by yourselves, exploring remote beaches or simply spending uninterrupted time together as a family, these are the experiences people remember long after the charter ends.” Supported by an experienced crew with extensive local knowledge, every itinerary is customisable based around guests’ interests, combining exceptional service with access to destinations and experiences that few visitors will ever discover. Available throughout Australia’s east coast, SHORE THING offers fully customisable itineraries across some of the country’s most sought after cruising grounds.
