The yacht you choose shapes every part of your charter from how you travel to and through a destination, to the space you have onboard and the experiences available along the way.
A superyacht might offer expansive decks and an exceptional range of amenities. A sailing yacht brings you closer to the rhythm of the sea, while a catamaran provides space, stability and access to shallow anchorages. For journeys beyond familiar cruising grounds, an expedition yacht can open up some of the world’s most remote destinations.
Every yacht charter arranged by The Superyacht People is fully crewed, allowing you to enjoy the journey while the navigation, service, dining and daily details are managed for you by your captain and crew. We will help you navigate the options and find the yacht that best fits the experience you have in mind.
There is no single “best type of yacht” for everyone. The right choice depends on where you want to go, who is travelling and how you want to spend your time. Explore the different yacht types below or speak to our team for a curated selection of yacht types suitable for your plans.
Think exceptional space, highly personalised service and a wide selection of water toys and onboard amenities. Whether you’re a larger group, celebrating a milestone occasion with multigenerational family members, or even just a couple looking for a romantic getaway, a superyacht charter can be completely tailored to you.
Motor yachts offer fast, flexible cruising with a wide range of sizes, layouts and budgets. Well suited to guests who want to visit several destinations within one charter, they often feature generous outdoor spaces, water access and a wide selection of amenities. From small crewed motor yachts to large luxury options, a motoryacht is suitable for a range of ages, groups, and charter styles.
Experience the romance, thrill and quieter rhythm that comes with travelling under sail, without losing the level of service and comfort provided by your luxury yacht crew.
For those that love the feeling of wind in their hair but want something a bit more stable with wider outdoor and indoor living spaces, a catamaran is an excellent choice. Catamarans are also perfect for exploring those destinations with plenty of shallow anchorages as they allow greater access to these cruising grounds.
Go further with expedition and explorer yacht charters where you can explore remote coastlines, get up close and personal with wildlife and discover less-travelled destinations onboard a yacht equipped for longer-range exploration and adventure.
The best place to begin is deciding what type of experience you want, rather than focusing on the yacht itself. Bear in mind how many people will be travelling and whether the group includes children or those with accessibility needs, you may need to choose a certain type of design over others. Then, imagine how you’d like to spend your days. Do you want to unfurl the sails and take your time getting from point A to point B? Or would you rather pull up anchor and enjoy the yacht’s amenities while quickly cruising to your next anchorage and playing with the water toys before taking the tender to shore?
The length of your charter will also influence your choice. A yacht suited to a day on the water may not offer the accommodation, range or facilities needed for a longer itinerary. For overnight and week long charters or longer, the cabin arrangements, storage, cruising comfort and private and shared spaces will need more consideration to ensure the comfort of you and your group throughout.
Next will be the destination to consider and what time of year you plan to go. If you are travelling outside of peak season, there may be less yachts available to choose from. Yacht size, operating requirements, destination, season and additional expenses will all contribute to your final decision.
A family of eight planning a week in the Whitsundays, for example, might initially consider several yacht types. If space, stability and easy water access are the priorities, a crewed catamaran could be the strongest fit. If the group wants to cover more distance and enjoy a broader range of amenities, a motor yacht may suit them better. Guests drawn to the journey itself could instead choose a sailing yacht, while a larger superyacht would provide more privacy, service and space across the generations. The Superyacht People considers the group, destination, itinerary and intended experience together before curating the most suitable options.
Start with your group, destination and preferred experience. A charter broker can then narrow the options based on layout, cruising capability, amenities and budget.
The Superyacht People specialises in fully crewed charters, with a professional captain and crew responsible for the yacht, service, dining and daily arrangements.
Motor yachts cover a broad range of sizes and charter styles. Superyachts generally represent the upper tier of scale, space, service and onboard amenities.
Our team combines passion with precision. We’ve advised high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and marine investors across Europe, Australia, and Asia-Pacific.
